A crazed snipper has shot three detainees at a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas , according to reports from ICE Director Todd Lyons.
One of the three victims is dead, with a second person iin hospital, according to an ICE spokesman. The attacker reportedly killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Some conflicting reports claim only one of the snipper’s victims is actually dead.

Officers exchanged fire with the snipper, who was shooting from an elevated position on a roof.
The attacker was found dead on the roof of a nearby building, local ABC affiliate WFAA reported, citing sources. At the time of the shooting, the victims were being led into the building to be processed and repatriated.
The suspect’s target remains unclear, but the shooter struck only detainees.

Dallas Police Department said in a statement they responded to a call at around 6.40am local time (12.40pm UK time) in the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway.

In his first post on social media about the shooting, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the state fully supports ICE. He promised that the shooting would not slow arrests, detentions, or the deportation of illegal immigrants.

Republican Senator for Texas John Cornyn describes the shooting as “horrific” in a post on social media. He says he is praying for everyone impacted by the attack.
Another Republican Senator for Texas, Ted Cruz, writes a similar message on X, saying he is praying for the “swift recovery” of those who were injured.
“Another violent attack on a Texas ICE facility,” Texas Republican Representative Wesley Hunt says. “Multiple people have been shot as they were unloading detainees.”
