A run away Catholic priest has been arrested on suspicion of nine counts of historic sexual assaults.
72 year old Catholic Priest Lawrence Super , was wanted on a European Arrest Warrant over allegations of child abuse.when he taught at St. Benedicts school, a private independent Catholic school in West London.
Super absconded to Rome instead of answering bail, but was arrested by a European Arrest Warrant in May in Kosovo, after five years on the run.
However, efforts to extradite him to the UK were blocked on the basis that the alleged crimes had expired in Kosovan which has a 30 year limitation period.
But cops snatched him on his arrival from Luton airport on suspicion of nine offenses of sexual assault committed between 1972 and 1986. Those allegations are serious indeed.
SEXUAL AB– USE
Reports of sexual abuse at the beleaguered Catholic school was so rampant that monks were stripped of control at the school by Lord Carlile of Berriew. Lord Carlile deemed the form of governance at the school to be wholly outdated and demonstrably unacceptable.
Four of the charges against him relate to indecent assault and gross indecency against the same individual. Two other charges relate to a boy under 16 between 1979 and 1984.
He is further accused of assaulting a fifth boy between 1982 and 1986. His capture would have brought relief to those who had been awaiting justice for years, and adds to the damaging reputation of the Catholic Church over the years caused by sexual abuses.
Last May, deputy head of St. Benedicts school, 37 years old Peter Elliott, was jailed for 33 months, after being caught with 25 grossly offensive images of child sex porn, and over 700 illegal images and videos.
It also emerged that Elliott had an expensive coke habit, costing him 600 pounds a week, which he often shared with homosexual partners he met on a dating site called Grinder.
Detectives also found the class A drug MDMA, when they raided his home.
Elliot, who was said to be addicted to debauchery was forced to sign the sex offenders register. Super’s fate will be worse, for his accusers are many.
He will suffer the consequences of his depraved tendencies, as the Catholic Church is dragged through the mud if his extreme perversion.
