By Lucy Caulkett-

Caroline Flack will be laid today at a private funeral as close friends and family pay tribute to her. The former Love Island presenter committed suicide  in her east London flat last month after she took her own life. She killed herself hours after she was told that the CPS would pursue assault charges against her for assaulting boyfriend, Lee Burton. Burton called 999 in a frantic state claiming that the presenter had tried to kill him.

Flack had attacked Burton with a lamp after she discovered suspicious texts suggesting he may have been cheating. Burton later decided to drop the charges, but the CPS decided to continue with the case as is the law on cases of domestic violence. Flack had posted messages on social media indicating that she could not bare being without boyfriend, Merton over the Christmas period.

Several stars and close friends of the Flack paid tributes to her in the days following her death. A petition was later signed by over 850,000 and handed to Downing Street, requesting for a law making the bullying of celebrities or anyone by the press a criminal offence.

Flack’s career first kicked off  in Bo’ Selecta! in 2002 and she  presented other  ITV2 spin-off shows including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! NOW!  between 2009 and 2010, and The Xtra Factor between 2011 and 2013.
