Britain Faces Second Lockdown Banning Visiting Family Members

Britain faces a second national lockdown in which laws banning visiting family members could be imposed, top experts have indicated.

Professor Chris Whitty is said to have told Boris Johnson that a 10pm curfew and extra face masks might not be enough to get the epidemic under control again.

It comes after  Scotland followed Northern Ireland in introducing a ban on households mixing indoors . Professor Whitty apparently wants to want to see the ban extended to the rest of England.

SAGE member John Edmunds is understood to have criticised the Government’s new measures for “not going far enough” and warns more “stringent” measures will have to be put in place across the whole of the UK within months.

UK coronavirus cases have risen by 6,178 in 24 hours ,in what is the third highest day ever. It  brings the total number of people infected by the virus to 409,729.
