Birmingham Police Car Chase Led To Smashed Overturned Vehicle

A Birmingham police  car chase led to a   car being flipped on its roof,

Two crash victims were badly hurt as the vehicle they were travelling in overturned on Oxhill Road, Handsworth on Monday morning, May 20.

A crumpled  stolen Toyota Celica was turned on its head, resting on its roof shortly after the police chase around 2am.

The driver had been fleeing police when his car smashed into other parked cars and a lamppost, overturning the vehicle. The accident led to the speed of ambulance crews and ten firefighters ra to the scene to help the men, who h both freed themselves from the wreckage. They both received trauma care on scene for the multiple injuries they sustained ans were then rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

s West Midlands Police read: “A suspected stolen car being pursued by police was involved in a collision with parked vehicles in Oxhill Road, Handsworth, around 2.10am this morning (Monday 20 May).

“Two men from the car have been taken to hospital with injuries which are serious but not life-threatening.

“The incident has been referred to our Professional Standards Department as is routine in such matters.”
