British former world champion boxer, Anthony Joshua, cheated death, after being injured in a horror car crash that killed two of his colleagues in Nigeria.
Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries as a passenger in the deadly incident where two other occupants in the car were killed. The experience will undoubtedly be both daunting and shocking for the heavyweight boxer, for who was planning a blissful christmas get away in the hot weather of Africa.

The London born boxer is away on holiday in his native Nigeria – a popular holiday destination for Nigerians in the diaspora who flock to the West African country for what is often dubbed ‘Dirty December’. He was travelling from Lagos to his family home in Ogun State.
The car carrying Joshua and four other adults was a Lexus SUV which collided with a stationary truck near a petrol station on the busy Lagos-Ibadan highway. It is unclear how fast the driver of the vehicle was driving. The two men dead are both British. One was Latz and Sina Evovle, were coaches and close friends of his.

Speeding on the motorway during inter city journeys by car in Nigeria is common. The psychological effect of driving a stupendously rich multi-millionaire who is also a former world champion would likely have bene high.
The British former world heavyweight champion was in the rear of the vehicle carrying four other adult males – before being helped out of the wreckage by a crowd of shocked onlookers. Footage released on social media shows the heavyweight powerhouse in pain a she is brought out of the wreckage.

Police have confirmed that Joshua has been taken to hospital and they are investigating the cause of the accident.
A statement from an Ogun State police read:
“Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident today – Monday December 29, 2025, at about 11am, in Makun, Ogun State.
“The incident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, just before Danco Filling Station, near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis.
“The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated. He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and receiving medical attention.
“Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene. The deceased have been conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue, Sagamu.
“The Ogun State Police Command extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assures the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has commenced.
“Further updates on the incident will be communicated as investigation progresses.”
Emergency responders rushed to the scene as crowds formed around the scene of the fatal accident.

Preliminary findings indicate the Lexus was “suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed limit” and “lost control” while overtaking before crashing into the truck, which was parked by the side of the road.
“The primary causes of the crash being excessive speed and wrongful overtaking constitute serious traffic violations and remain among the leading causes of fatal road crashes on Nigerian highways,” the FRSC said on X.
A witness told PUNCH magazine: “It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another person beside him.
“There was also a passenger sitting beside the driver, making four occupants in the Lexus that crashed.
“His security detail was in the vehicle behind them before the crash.”
He added: “Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to assist.
“A few minutes after the crash, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived.
“The passenger beside the driver and [the one beside] Joshua died on the spot.”
Joshua is pencilled to have a mega show down against Tyson Fury, barely a week after the heavyweight knocked out Paul, 28, in six rounds while brutally breaking the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s jaw in two places.
The Miami clash expected to be a quick one sided mismatch was viewed by 33million on Netflix .
Joshua who had been expected to get rid of Paul in the first couple of rounds, laboured for an extra four rounds before he could nail his opponent who spent most of the time skirting around the ring.
Joshua, recently took to twitter to wish his fans a happy christmas and new year.
Little did he know that his christmas joy was soon to be hit with pain of this magnitude.
