60 Minutes Australia is under attack after the programme released a preview of its upcoming “#Megxit” segment on the Duchess of Sussex aimed at investigating how “Meghan Markle lost her sparkle.”
Snippets of its upcoming programme about Meghan Markle has been viewed as a racist and vindictive attack against the Dutchess who has endured a sustained attack in the British media ever since her marriage to Prince Harry. Some of the criticisms in the British media may be well founded on the particular facts and circumstances, but critics believe there has been an underlying agenda to victimise and embarrass the Dutchess because she is black, and for her unorthodox ways of operating.
Evidence for supporting the former allegation is none existent, but those who hold strongly unto these views draw from other facts and analogies to support their claim. The tweet promoting the yet to be aired programme feeds on the negative publicity that has accompanied her inclusion to the royal family.
“From adored to insufferable in less than a year. What went wrong for Meghan, and how it affects hubby Harry. … Inside a Royal crisis,” the tweet declares, “Can the ghost of Princess Diana save a fairytale?
The preview also features an interview from Meghan’s former friend in which she describes the Dutchess as ”manipulating”. 60 minutes is now facing international criticism for its decision to interview far right British commentator Katie Hopkins for its so called “hit piece” on the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
The segment, to be aired on Sunday on Australia’s chapter 9 has been branded the product of a “witch hunt” on the Duchesss. The promo released on Wednesday promised to explore how the duchess of Sussex’s bad PR is causing a “royal crisis” — and how the former actress went from “adored to insufferable” in less than a year. Segments from the episode show Karl Stefanovic interviewing British TV personalities Lizzie Cundy and Katie Hopkins.
Hopkins makes no secret of her intense dislike and disapproval of Markle. describing her as a hypocrite and a no one.
“Meghan Markle is the biggest hypocrite there is,” she tells Stefanovic, further describing the former actress as a “no one”.
Hopkins put on a sadistic smile as she told Stefanovic that she is “the biggest b*tch in Britain”, Hopkins later adds: “There she is in her one shoulder dress being ‘glowing’, because all she does is ‘glow’ … Abdicate. Off you go.”eeted about the Netflix series Dear White People, writing: “Dear black people. If your lives matter why do you stab and shoot each other so much.”
NOTORIOUS
Hopkins is notorious for her racist views about immigrants in the British media, and once compared migrants to cockroaches in a national newspaper. The former Sun and Daily Mail columnist, who has featured on the British version of The Apprentice, also referred to Meghan as a “budget Princess Di” in the past, but in the 60 Minutes promo, she appears to launch a vicious verbal attack on the duchess.
Smiling to Stefanovic as she tells him she’s “the biggest b*tch in Britain”, Hopkins later adds: “There she is shoulder dress being ‘glowing, because all she does is ‘glow’ … Abdicate. Off you go”. In a tweet about a Netflix series Dear White People, she sarcastically undermined the sentiment underpinning the slogan ‘black lives matters when she wrote: “Dear black people. If your lives matter why do you stab and shoot each other so much?”
STUDIED
The programme will be studied closely when it is eventually aired, and many critics and observers will be waiting to attack the programme. Hopkins herself is not a popular figure in England and has lost the media platform she once enjoyed there. She will be mentally prepared for the attack that will follow her own victimisation of Meghan Markle who will not be least pleased with the outright enmity she has made with the princess.
