WYP Investigate Bradford Muslims Threatened With Acid Attacks

By James Simons-

Bradford Muslims have been threatened with acid attack in what has now become a police investigation.

West Yorkshire Police have launched a hate crime investigation following anonymous letters threatening acid attacks on Muslims in Bradford.

West Yorkshire police say they are taking the threats “extremely seriously”, and have increased patrols in Hanover Square- a predominantly Muslim inner-city area where the letters were sent to two residents.

The letters depict an image of a sword and the St George’s flag with the words: “Kill scum Muslims”. In an attack against Muslim women who wear burqas , the letter states: “We are now going to do acid attacks on anyone who wears the funny black masks around your square & Bradford & other places.”

The hateful letter goes on to allege that “three of ur male pigs” were grooming four white girls, then states: “We know who the three male pigs are they are walking dead pigs.” The letters are believed to be in a reaction to the 17 convictions in a few weeks ago of 17 men who were part of the Newcastle Asian sex gang guilty of grooming, drugging and trafficking young white girls. Ever since the convictions which were publicised in the press. there has been severe tensions between some of the muslim community and the largely English communities in the Yorkshire Bradford and Newcastle areas. Anger has been boiling over after the news of the mass scale sexual abuse that came to the attention to the country. 461 people were arrested during that investigation in which 278 victims were identified, and was the 7th large scale sex scandal to hit the UK.

RAPE

During the Newcastle Asian sex gang case, a 13 year old was raped repeatedly in what she described as being like the ”boys were in a relay race at one of the parties. One of the convicted men, 37 year old Badrul Hussain once told a ticket collector in Tyneand wear that white girls were good for one thing: ”for men like me to fxxx and use as thrash, that is what women like you are worth”.

DESPICABLE

Callous and despicable words like that are disgraceful and annoying; they whipped up a strong sentiment of resentment and anger in many English communities in Yorkshire and Newcastle. However, it stinks of stupidity and ignorance for any groups of people to target random innocent people, just because they are muslim. I is lik

Extra police patrols were conducted over the bank holiday weekend on Hanover Square because of the serious threats.

27 year old Mohammed Qayd-one of the recipients of the letter- expressed fear to reporters that his mother was afraid she could be a target of the hateful letters. He said the threats had come “completely out of the blue”. It is believed that the authors of the letters target addresses they had been watching, and knew that the occupants of those addresses were muslims. Some residents of Bradford say the attacks are a reaction to the news last month about a group of Asian and largely Muslim men convicted in Newcastle for grooming a number of under aged white girls. 27 year old Nadeem Ahmed from Bradford, an economist in the city of London, told the eye of media.com’ ‘ a lot of people are nervous because of the seriousness of the threat.

”It looks like attack on muslims are becoming a new form of terrorism. This people need to understand that just because people from a certain race or religion commit a crime, this does not mean everyone from that race or religion agree with the offence. This is so ridiculous and evil, we are glad the authorities are taking this seriously”, he said.

32 tear old Fatima Ali, a secondary school teacher in Leeds told the eye of media: this is very scary, nobody feels safe around here. If acid attacks are launched on muslims, the practise will spread and it will lead to a lot of confrontation and automatic tension between muslims and ordinary white people. This threat appears to be building towards it, and it is important that members of society play their role on educating narrow minded and pathetic individuals in our midst. These kind of threats are unacceptable. Acid has a very lasting impact on the minds and lives of victims, it can easily ruin a person’s life. People who haven’t ruined other people’s lives don’t deserve to live in fear of the possibility that their lives may be ruined because of some illogical motive. We have kids too, families, friends, why would they terrify people in this way”
