Ombudsman For Vodaphone To Be Investigated For Incompetence

By Lucy Caulkett-

The Ombudsman for Vodafone is to be investigated by the eye of media.com for incompetence and regulation capture.

Regulation capture refers to a case where an organisation regulating another works or appears to work in the best interest of those they are investigating because of vested interest and a ‘cosy’ relationship they may have with that organisation.

The Ombudsman for Vodafone demonstrated a weak and  none insightful approach to the complaint presented by one of our team members. Their actions appear to be driven towards protecting the interests of Vodafone instead of investigating them properly.

The self regulated ombudsman oversee hundreds of organisations , but are believed to be biased against the customer. They appear to seriously lack the tools to objectively and competently protect the interest of complainants in every case.

They undergo a process of investigation but  some of their principles and ways of operating appear very shoddy.

MEETING

The Ombudsman  was one of the reasons members of the eye of media.com had a long meeting on Wednesday lasting nearly 5 hours. Our team was assembled to study the services  and assess how the company operates  in light of  their  alarming failings, and what actions we should take as a team to campaign against their incompetence.  Other issues included various research we are conducting in the area of education, social services, drug and abuse, and media objectivity.

FUSED

Views from across the team will be fused in one and presented to the government for a second look at the integrity of their system.  Ofcom has already been briefed about what is being presented as an alarming failing of the organisation. A complaint has been logged with ofcom about both the Ombudsman for Vodafone and Vodafone itself. Ofcom say they use information gathered from complainants for monitoring purposes, and whilst they generally don’t act on individual cases, will be taking serious note of the complaint logged.

Editor of the eye of media.com, Gabriel Princewill, will be drafting the first report and recommendation to both ofcom and the government . The recommendation will also be looked at by two other senior members of the team.

The Ombudsman for Vodafone are expected to be an organisation of high standards and there is every possibility they demonstrate high standards in some other cases.

COMPETENCE

It seems this one case that  came directly to the attention of the eye of media.com may now question their competence even though it obviously arises from a grievance of one of the team members. Information for investigations  can come from anywhere , I guess.
