Bright St. Stephen School Is A Model School

By Gabriel Princewill-

The head teacher of St. Stephens school has praised her staff for their continuous dedication to her primary school pupils after her school topped The Sunday Times rankings for primary schools in the U.K.

St. Stephens school, based in East Ham, East London, is a model school filled with bright young pupils with a love for learning who are pushing the boundaries of excellent academic development.

Supported by a team of well trained dedicated teachers, the young children in this primary school are attaining a level of education success that put many failing schools to shame. All their 8 year old children know their times table up to 12 at the back of their hand, and their reading level is impressively proficient for children their age.Headteacher, Neena Lall told The Eye Of Media.Com that learning is made an exciting experience for them, as she explained the multi-faceted approach she has adopted in progressively nurturing and harnessing their latent skills from a young age.

Lall, a privately educated former pupil herself from Forest School in Snaresbrook , has drawn from her personal experience, merging this with those of her nieces who are also privately educated. The outcome has been a pool of disciplined, focused and ambitious students, responsive to the positive ideals with which they have been raised.Llall tolfd The Eye Of Media.Com:

”We take them[the pupils] through a wide range of future career options, and let them know that if they want to pursue certain careers they will need to go to University. We then tell them that if they want to go to University, they will need to do well in secondary school, and to do well in secondary school, they would need to do well in primary school. Eloquently spoken with a self assured aura, Llall’s school has gone one step further than most schools in ensuring parents of vulnerable children attend parenting classes .

”We have high expectations of all our children, we expect all our children to achieve. Children have different needs, and those from vulnerable backgrounds are given the assistance they need. We have a children centre where we support many parents with parenting classes, every parent wants their children to succeed so we help them do that’.Our enagement with the parents is strong, and they support our vision.

”We also train all our teachers and conduct a lot of monitoring. They all undertake a CPD training. We also engage with The teaching here is solid, and we ensure all the children know their times table by the age of 8. We are aware the pupils are nationally expected to know their times tables by year 4, so we prepare them by year 3. The pupils are very responsive to the solid training we give them. A lot of emphasis is laid on respect and manners, so the pupils develop with the right attitude”.

St.Stephens school has had their children centre for over 15 years, and although this is the first year their school has come up tops in the U.K, St Stephens has a history of generally well developed students academically. An added testament to the school is the fact that all the children can read an adult book fluently by the time they are nine years of age, giving them a year to prepare adequately for their Sats exams.

Reflecting on the delightful success of her students who excelled tremendously in the 2017 Sats exams- the most difficult in the UK for decades- Lall undertook a proactive approach in priming her students for the exams.

”We knew there was going to be a change in the curriculum, the staff and team support knew what they were trying to do. They get the vision and work through it. We knew there was going to be a change in the curriculum, so we cascaded the curriculum”. The success of this school is particular impressive, one which should inspire every other primary school in the country. With the phenomenal success of this school, it deserves all the accolades in the superrlatives for its marvellous performance.
