A man knocked out on spice was seen lying on the road in kentish Town, North London after consuming a spliff of the so called legal high, spice.
The man in his thirties, lay helplessly after a binge session at a local bar, which he topped up with s spliff of spice. The man was seen wobbling unto a nearby pole, and when asked if he was drunk, he replied, ”no, i’m tripping on spice.
Asked if he needed any help, he said ”i’ll be ok, just tripping”, then seconds later he dropped to the ground and lay flat. A few drunk lads went to his aid, but despite many urging him to get off the floor, he remained motionless. One lad said ”he may be dead you know”. We tried shaking him, though when we checked his pulse, we were able to conclude he was still alive.
The moment we decided to take a camera snap of him, the three lads attending to him dispersed, not wanting to feature in the picture, most likely because they had cans of beers in their hands, and one of them was topless in the heat.
Passers by starred curiously, because of the precarious state of the man. Cars were driving on that road at speed, but avoided the reckless individual. Two other lads who walked by paused at the scene, one of them suggesting ”should we search his pocket and rob him”? As we took out our camera for an extra shot and explained to the guys that we were part of an online publication, they left the scene and proceeded with the rest of the day.
With the weather hot and many revelers drinking in the hot weather, smoking is a habit that goes with drinking for many. Many people like to smoke cigarettes and Cannabis in the hot weather, with some taking it that one step higher and smoking the lethal spice. Last week, we reported of a man who claimed to be ”losing it” after having the dangerous spice at the Isle of man. This incident was much worse, as the man looked close to adding the final nail in the coffin if a car were to run him over.
It was already getting dark, and hard to imagine what kind of night this man will have. People have died of spice, some on their very first attempt of the lethal high. There are different strains of spice, with some stronger than others. Many times, users don’t stop to assess or even inquire about the strength of the spice they are smoking. Even the weakest of spice is dangerously lethal and not advisable for anybody to consume. But there are always some fools who want to be high on something, anything, provided they get a high from it.
This was a shameful sight to see, for a grown man to smoke himself out like that. Eventually, a good Samaritan on her way to a shop nearby, joined me in shaking the man up. He got up half way, then fell back down. She called an ambulance to attend to him and offered to wait until their arrival.
I left her with the man, as AI had important things to attend to. Hopefully, he survived the self inflicted ordeal. If he has any sense, he will never take that evil substance again.
