British Board Of Governors Awaiting Medical Certificate From Team Fury

By Tim Parsons-

The British board of governors are still awaiting a medical certificate from team Fury confirming his medical illness.

Head of the British Boxing Board of Governors,  Robert Smith, told the eye of media.com ” we have still not received any medical certificate from Tyson Fury regarding his withdrawal. We should have been served with a medical certificate, but that has not happened yet. We expect it anytime soon.

The British boxing board have disciplined Fury in the past for his unrestrained comments, fineing him heavily on an at least one occasion. When the eye of media.com told Smith that Fury had not co-operated with recent drug testing requests, he said he was not aware of this at all.

Tyson Fury pulled out from his rescheduled rematch against Tyson Fury, citing depression and being ”medically unfit”  His Uncle, Peter Fury, said a public backlash since Fury won the heavyweight titles last year had weighed heavily on the fighter, making him feel depressed and unappreciated.

However, the excuse is not justifiable at all. Boxing is a tough sport, both physically and mentally. Depression due to criticism from the public is a weak reason for pulling out from a world title fight in which one is due to be paid millions. This reason is highly suspicious and raises several unanswered questions.

Fury is reported t have insulted staff from the UK anti-doping squad when he was approached for drug testing recently. The approach follows earlier allegations of the presence of a banned anabolic substance in the world champion’s system, which he has strenuously denied. It was agreed that Fury w would answer the charges after his rematch, but Klitschko insisted he had the test before their second meeting, expected to be an explosive fight given the former reigning champion’s determination to regain his old belts.

The reported refusal to take the drug test is  an offence under Uk Anti-Doping Rules. A spokesperson for the Uk AntI Doping  body told the eye of media.com ” we cannot comment at the moment to prevent biasing the process of investigation. We can say that all athletes are required under our rules to co-operate with our testing procedures, and could face a ban if they refuse without good reason. However, we look at all the circumstances of the case.

It remains unclear what will happen with the two world title belts Fury holds, as he will not be allowed to hold up the division indefinitely. At the moment, Fury’s popularity and credibility is plummeting to an all-time low, and unless he gets his senses together soon, he may have to kiss his career goodbye.

The unbeaten gypsy king took the boxing world by surprise when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko last November, becoming the first man in 11 years to beat me. However, his victory began to lose momentum after he postponed the first fight, but this withdrawal now makes it a long shot for him to return the top spot he had. The boxing world may now look to American heavyweight , Deontey Wilder, and Anthony Joshua to lead the division if Fury can stay in the mix and keep it interesting.

On the strength of his first convincing victory, Fury appeared to have a good chance of repeating the win on their second meeting, but the psychological advantage may now be with Wladimir Klitschko.
